Yes, but that was 100 YEARS ago. I would rather not be able to drive somewhere than starve, so I voted food. All the farm land wasted to grow fuel? Let's just concentrate on sustainable food first. Ethanol is such a waste of time. Who would want to pay 50% more for their fuel to go 30% less distance?

There's no 'vs' in this question. We need food AND fuel. Sadly whoever bids higher gets it - Our world will pay more for fuel than the 3rd world can pay for rice. That's not agricultures fault. We need to produce Food-Fuel_Feed_Fertilizer in that order, but it all has to work together. 100 years ago my grandfather farmed in Antigonish. He produced food first for the family, then fuel (i.e. oats and hay) for his tractor (horses) THEN he produced a product - milk- to sell as well as feed for his cows . That's the kind of 'Whole Cycle' we need to get back to, the mono agriculture-cheep commodity thing will not work anymore.
